About Northside Fish Market

Nestled in the heart of Raleigh at 2275 New Hope Church Rd, the Northside Fish Market has been a go-to spot for fresh and flavorful seafood since 1976. Known simply as The Fish Market to locals, this neighborhood restaurant has built a reputation for serving up quality dishes that highlight the best of the sea. From simple grilled fish to freshly shucked oysters, every item on the menu reflects their dedication to freshness and tradition.

Walking through the doors, you can feel the history. Founded by a passionate team of seafood enthusiasts, the Fish Market has always been about more than just food—it’s about community. Over the years, it has grown into a beloved institution where families gather, friends meet, and visitors get a taste of Raleigh’s seafood culture. The casual, laid-back atmosphere makes it just as easy to enjoy a quick lunch as it is to linger over dinner.

What makes this diner stand out is not just the food on the plate but also the retail seafood market inside. Guests can shop for their favorite catches to take home, bringing the essence of coastal dining into their own kitchens. Whether it’s shrimp, crab, or locally sourced fish, the selection is always fresh and carefully curated. This dual concept of restaurant and market keeps locals coming back, giving them options for both dining in and cooking at home.

The menu itself is a celebration of simplicity and flavor. Grilled fish prepared to perfection, oysters that taste like the ocean, and scratch-made desserts crafted with love all keep regulars talking. Many reviews highlight not only the freshness of the seafood but also the friendly service and consistent quality. It’s clear that every dish reflects the founders’ original vision: bringing the best of the sea directly to the table.

Beyond food, the Fish Market has remained committed to giving back, supporting community-focused initiatives that strengthen its bond with Raleigh residents. With decades of history and a loyal following, the Northside Fish Market continues to embody what a true neighborhood seafood restaurant should be—authentic, welcoming, and unforgettable.

This is a fish market that sells takeout. The food was great and reasonably priced. 2 pc Tilapia+ 5 Shrimp less than $12

If you have a challenge finding location it's on the corner of the plaza.( Past hair salon) Good customer service and good food. I wasn't gonna do coleslaw because I didn't see any pepper but it was good. Fries are good ;if you have BP challenges request no salt or seasoning on fries. I liked the Mamba sauce. My Honey and I shared a platter. For $ 7.57 we got 2 pieces of whiting, fries, coleslaw, and a slice of bread. In general the prices are good. They didn't have wild caught salmon which I was looking for. We went on a Tuesday. Also ordered for my coworkers and they reported that it tasted like they fried the chicken in fish grease

Great place for fried fish and shrimp. Very clean place and great customer service. Their lunch specials are very reasonable during the week and their lemonade is yummy. Weekends we get the 10 piece whiting platter, fried shrimp, and their chicken wings. Yup you heard me right …their chicken wings are so good. We ask them to fry the French fries crispy and get mamba sauce to dip them in. Their hush puppies are good especially when you dip it in mamba sauce. Everything is tasty and I love the cornmeal crispiness of the fish, it’s great on the heat up the next day. Their prices went up a little since the summer time, but that’s to be expected since they are popular and well..the economy.

Update 10/13 OMG this may be a fish market but you absolutely need to try her wings. So fresh & crispy just right. 4wing combo only $10.00 also. Owner is always super nice & inviting I’ve came in here a few times to buy fresh crab legs. Today decided to try the fish sandwich combo for only $7. It was so good & fresh. Even the lemonade was to die for!! Will definitely be back. Great customers service too. Lady at the counter was very pleasant
